Standard Sizes: Who They Fit Best
Our women’s, men’s, and kids’ outfits come in standard sizes that follow international sizing conventions. Choose a standard size when:
- Your measurements line up with one size across bust, waist, and hips
- You are ordering with comfortable lead time and want the fastest turnaround
- The outfit is for an event where a tailor could do minor tweaks locally
Between two sizes? For fitted bodices, we generally recommend sizing by your bust measurement first — a bodice that fits the bust can usually be adjusted at the waist, but not the other way around.
Custom Sizing: Made to Your Measurements
Many of our customers choose made-to-measure, and for Hmong New Year outfits it is the most popular option. Custom sizing means the garment is cut to your actual body — not graded up or down from a sample size. Choose custom when:
- You fall between standard sizes
- You want a family set in matching fabrics but very different body types
- The outfit is for a wedding, pageant, or performance where fit has to be exact
- You are ordering for kids, who rarely match standard age sizing neatly
What Measurements to Send
For a custom order, send us a request with these measurements (in centimeters or inches — just tell us which):
- Women’s outfits: bust, waist, hips, shoulder width, bodice length (shoulder to waist), skirt length, height
- Men’s outfits: chest, waist, shoulder width, sleeve length, jacket length, height
- Kids’ outfits: chest, waist, height, age (as a sanity check)
Tips for measuring: use a soft tape, measure over light clothing, keep the tape level but not tight, and have someone help with shoulder and back measurements. Two minutes of care here saves weeks of alterations later.
How Long Does Custom Take?
Custom adds production time to an already handmade process — the garment is patterned, embroidered, and assembled for one person.
